    1. No it will not hit or even affect the Philippines. It will continue to move northwest and gradually dissipate in the northern pacific.

It is currently a Tropical Storm with winds of 70km/h, and is not expected to become a Typhoon.

  4. Good day. I have a question. Is there a possibility of TS Tapah of intensifying into a stromg typhoon? Is there enough moisture over the area? Thanks.

    1. It will not become a strong typhoon. It should be at most a category 2, but that is unlikely.
Strangely, the JTWC says it has winds of 97km/h when satellite imagery shows that the wind is moving at only 50km/h. Still, the storm indeed has an eye-like structure, meaning it could actually have 95km/h winds.

Overall atmospheric conditions are not favourable for Tapah to become a strong typhoon.
